The 2006 Elizabeth Brockman Master Class, Awards and Grants in Classical Music

A master class was given by Swiss Global Artistic Director Geoffrey Simon, involving public high school students from the South Fork school district. The setting was the beautiful Playhouse in East Hampton, a first-rate performance space in a house owned for several generations by the Brockman family.

Awards were made to two outstanding students by the Playhouse Project's founders, Mirra Bank and Richard Brockman.

Following the master class, Swiss Global sponsored a short recital by the talented 18-year-old Korean violinist Hahn-Bin, a student of Itzhak Perlman in New York.

In January 2006 Hahn-Bin had been the recipient of the Swiss Global Artistic Foundation's Special Prize at the Young Concert Artists finals in New York. Hahn-Bin's appearance at the Elizabeth Brockman Master Class was an inspiration to the young participants, not so different in age from him.
