Geneva International Orchestra in Concert for Japan

The Geneva International Orchestra (L’OIG) presented an exceptional concert under the Patronage of the Consulate of Japan.

After a triumphant opening concert in Oman for the 40th National Day of the Sultanate of Oman, the Geneva International Orchestra gave a unique concert at the Victoria Hall in Geneva, Switzerland, on Friday, 23 September, under the direction of the renowned conductor Emmanuel Krivine, together with the great cellist Gautier Capuçon.

With the support and commitment of partners sensitive to the tragedy that recently hit Japan and its people, this concert, under the Patronage of the Consulate of Japan was a sign of solidarity towards this country. It brought together 48 brilliant musicians for an amazing night full of emotions.

The concert programme included Mendelssohn's Ouverture of The Fair Melusina; Camille Saint-Saëns's Concerto for cello and orchestra N°1, in A minor op. 33; Robert Schumann's Ouverture, Scherzo & Finale; and Sergeï Prokofiev's Classical Symphony.

L'OIG is a partnered collaboration with Swiss Global, with Heather de Haes serving as its Global Artistic Advisor. L'OIG Artistic Director Clement Dumortier also serves as Swiss Global General Manager for Switzerland. Swiss Global's orchestral entity, the Swiss Global Virtuoso Orchestra, recently merged with L'OIG in effort to provide the artists with the most beneficial musical and cultural experiences possible.
