Eric Kaufman

Biography

The eminent New York attorney, Eric R. Kaufman, is a lifelong supporter of classical music and fine art. A senior partner in the firm of Kaufman & Kaufman, he has acted as counsel in art transactions and litigation on behalf of art dealers, collectors and institutions, often at the international level. His professional work encompasses matters of American and European law, as well as the laws of various third world countries, and include transactions ranging from ancient and tribal art, through impressionist, modern and contemporary art.

Mr Kaufman's expertise extends beyond legal affairs. A frequent lecturer on art and commerce, his speaking engagements have included the Appraiser's Association of America, The Harvard Club, The Grolier Club and the International Fine Print Dealers Fair. Objects from his impressive collection of ancient, mediaeval and 17th century works of art have been exhibited at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Mr Kaufman is a Member of both the Connoisseur's Circle of the Institute of Fine Arts of New York University, as well as the Collections Committee of the Harvard University Art Museums. He is a graduate of The Harvard Law School and a former trustee of The Harvard Library in New York Foundation.
