Juliane Cosandier

Biography

Juliane Cosandier is a native Genevese and worked, in 1979-94, at Geneva's "Cabinet des Estampes" museum, where she first undertook the inventory of the collections, and, as scientific collaborator, produced many exhibitions by European artists.

Mme Cosandier sits on many committees including the "Comité de la Société Suisse de Gravure", the Jury of the Prize for the Arts granted by the Moët-Hennessey Switzerland Foundation, the Jury of the Sandoz Foundation for the Painting Prize, Lausanne, the Council of the Paul Klee Centre in Bern, and the Council of the Lausanne Cantonal Art School.

In 2004 she was became a "Chevalier of the Order of Arts and Literature" of the French Republic.

Juliane Cosandier took over the management of the Fondation de l'Hermitage, Lausanne in 1996. Her position encompasses the artistic, financial and administrative supervision of the museum, the management of exhibitions, writing of catalogues, museum layouts and background, lectures and commented tours, pedagogical activities, relations with the media, management of the collections and acquisitions, finding sponsors and establishing links and contacts with them, and translations of texts on art history from English and German into French. She is also a counsellor with banks for the establishment of their own art collections.

Fondation de l'Hermitage, Mrs Cosandier has presented some twenty exhibitions by international painters from the 18th century until the present, including French Impressionists and Fauves, German and Swiss artists, several American collections and a number of Scandinavian paintings.
